DISTRICT-WIDE CURRICULUM
A district-wide curriculum is now available for review at the administrative building. The curriculum guides for each site include PASS objectives, Core Curriculum objectives and SIDE BY SIDE objectives that will help teachers begin making the transition to Core Curriculum which is to be implemented by the year 2014, the same year students will be asked open ended questions on end of year testing that will require written responses reflecting higher order thinking skills. The District Wide Curriculum Guides, which will help keep teachers focused on required learner objectives, are a vital component of our School Improvement process. |

Parent School Improvement Notification Letter
October 28, 2011 Dear Parent/Guardian: We have received official notification that the Madill Public School District and the Madill Elementary School have been placed on Year One of School Improvement. Anticipating this, we began an intensive school improvement initiative at the beginning of the school year. We have established teacher, administrator, staff, parent, student and community school improvement leadership teams to look at our test scores and other data to identify our areas of weakness, set goals for improvement and arrange for intensive, ongoing professional development training to enhance teaching and learning. We are contracting with the OU Center for Effective Schools to guide us through this intensive school improvement process, and we are optimistic that we will make significant gains this year. During this challenging time, we need the support of our parents and community more than ever. Parents often ask how they can help. Suggestions are to make sure your child gets plenty of rest at night and eats a good breakfast every morning. Set aside a time every evening (at least thirty minutes) for homework and studies. Try as much as possible to schedule routine doctor and dentist appointments after school. As much as we promote regular attendance, please do not send your child to school when they have symptoms of a contagious illness. Contact principals if you are interested in volunteering at the school. Thank you for your continued support of the Madill Public School system. Sincerely,
Mr. Jon A. Tuck Superintendent of Schools
