Basketball Clubs Complete Sweep of Sallisaw with Wins Thursday; Remain in Regional Tourney Friday at Ada

The Madill Lady Wildcats erased a 16-point, first-quarter deficit to emerge with a 69-60 victory over Sallisaw in the regional basketball tournament in Ada on Thursday afternoon in the consolation bracket. Three Madill players scored in double figures in the win. Rylee Ruff collected a team-high 18 points, followed by Madison Jowers' 15 points and Kaitlyn Jones' 12.
Madill trailed 22-6 by the end of the first quarter. They climbed to within four, 33-29, at halftime. Tia Brown had nine points, Quaja Byars tossed in six points, and Ali Selvy pitched in four points. Madi Cook and Macayla Moore each had two points. Kortlyn Yow had one point.
The boys completed the sweep of Sallisaw with a 53-39 win late Thursday afternoon. Madill led 29-22 at the half.
The girls return Friday (Feb. 26) to Ada for a 1:30 p.m. game in the consolation bracket. The Madill boys play at 3 p.m. in Ada Friday.
