Both Basketball Squads Push Panthers from Regional, Advance to Friday Games at Purcell

Both Madill basketball teams staved off elimination Thursday afternoon at Anadarko in the regional consolation bracket against Pauls Valley.
In the girls contest, the Lady 'Cats were paced by Haley Furr's 24 points and Kaylen Sweat's 17 in a 65-58 victory for Madill over the Lady Panthers. Madill closed the contest with a 13-6 run for the win Feb. 21.
The boys built a 41-15 lead by halftime, finished with three players in double figures and coasted to a 76-58 win against Pauls Valley to remain in the regional tournament. Ke'ven Davis led the 'Cats with 19 points. He was followed by Joe Avery with 13 points and Shadow Marris with 12.
Thursday's Wildcat wins keep Madill in the regional tourney. The girls play at 1:30 p.m. and the boys play at 3 p.m. Friday (Feb. 22) in Purcell against an opponent to be determined.
