The boys soccer team defeated Durant 2-1 tonight (March 31) on the road at Paul Laird Field on the campus of Southeastern Oklahoma State University. However, the girls lost to the Lady Lions, 7-0. In the boys match, Carlos Torres kicked both goals. "The game was physical and fast-paced," Madill coach Jose Cortes said of the boys match. "Durant had chances to score but our defense and (goalie) Arturo Guevara saved us at least six times." "The Lady 'Cats played a hard-fought game," Cortes said. "The experienced Durant squad was a tough match for our young Lady 'Cats. But the Lady 'Cats were physical and never gave up." The clubs are scheduled to travel to Newcastle April 4 (Friday). |
