'Cats Bury Bethel in Shutout Friday

Two interception returns for a touchdown highlighted Madill's 47-0 rout of Bethel Friday at Alumni Field for homecoming. Samuel Bond put Madill ahead of Bethel with a 3-yard scoring run with 5:18 left in the first quarter. Madill never looked back. The defense shined by holding Bethel from the scoreboard and allowing just 69 yards of total offense. Bond scored his seond TD of the night as time expired to end the first quarter. The 8-yard run gave Madill a 14-0 advantage with Bond's conversion run. Junior Colton Clement scored the first of his two TDs on a 34-yard interception return with 1:51 left in the first half. Baeli Benton tacked on the point after to push the 'Cats' lead to 21-0. Joe Avery hauled in a 6-yard TD pass from Bond to make it 28-0 with 7:36 to go in the third period. Clement added his second TD on a 4-yard run with 2:52 left in the third quarter. Maleek Morris scored on a 20-yard run. Marshall Scott then returned an interception 25 yards for a TD with 6:49 remaining in the contest. Madill travels next Friday as district play opens with Plainview.
