Eight days ago, the Wildcats suffered a 54-52 loss to the Purcell Dragons in the friendly confines of the Wildcat Fieldhouse during the District 8 playoffs. Today, the 'Cats exacted a loss by downing the Dragons 46-36 on Saturday in Purcell's 'Dungeon' to claim the regional consolation champions trophy, eliminate Purcell from the playoffs, and advance to the area tournament in Chickasha at 3 p.m. on Feb. 28.
The 'Cats were led by Ke'ven Davis' 12-point performance. Madill held a slight 11-10 advantage by the end of the opening quarter. The Wildcats increased the advantage to 27-24 by halftime. The 'Cats began to open the gap in the second half and held a 36-28 lead by the end of the third quarter.
Madill plays the Ada Cougars in the area tournament. The Wildcats lost the Cougars 61-46 in Ada back on Dec. 11 of this season.
