Thanks to two six-run innings highlighted by Gage Goff's two-run home run that also scored Joe Avery, Madill made quick work of Comanche by dispatching the Indians 13-1 in four innings late Friday afternoon in Lone Grove in the consolation bracket of the Lake Country Conference tournament. Paten Bond recorded the pitching win. The win advances Madill into the consolation championship game at noon on Saturday (April 6) in Lone Grove. Ivan Flores' two-out triple to right-center that bounded all the way to the wall in the bottom of the sixth inning plated Paten Bond to give Madill all the space it needed to close out a 4-3 win over Dickson early Friday afternoon in Lake Country Conference baseball tournament at Plainview. Jonathan Sutherland also had a noteworthy day on the diamond for the 'Cats. Sutherland helped his own caused when he swatted a two-run home run to left to put Madill up 3-0 in the bottom half of the fourth frame. He also fielded a comebacker to throw the batter out at first to end a bases-loaded threat for the Comets in the top half of the fifth stanza. The victory over Dickson means Madill faces Comanche today (April 5) at 4 p.m. in Lone Grove. The Wildcats must win the game to stay alive in the LCC tourney after falling to Plainview Thursday night in Lone Grove to open the tournament.
