Two second-quarter scores were all the Wildcats needed for a 14-11 victory over non-district foe Bridge Creek in a rare Thursday night varsity contest on Alumni Field at Blake Smiley Stadium.
The Bobcats' Johnny Ojeda booted a 28-yard field goal with 9:13 to go in the first period to put Bridge Creek up , 3-0.
Both teams traded possessions and netted no points for the rest of the opening stanza Thursday.
Senior Corbin Larason gave Madill the 7-3 edge with his two-yard run with 3:13 left in the fist half. Micah Cooper added a 64-yard TD run with 1:30 remaining in the second period to stretch Madill's lead to 14-3 before halftime.
The Bobcats got a three-yard run from Cub Hodges with 7:19 to go in the third quarter. The two-point conversion failed which left the score 14-9. Jordan Herndon picked off a Bobcats' pass and set the Wildcats' offense up at their own two-yard line. However, Cooper was tackled in the end zone for a Bridge Creek safety with 19 seconds remaining in the third for a 14-11 score. Madill hosts Plainview next Friday for senior night.
