'Cats Edged out by One Possession in Loss to Dickson at Byng Basketball Tournament

The Madill boys basketball squad fought back for a chance to score its own comeback win Saturday against the Comets of Dickson at the Byng tournament. However, Dickson tipped and intercepted the in-bounds pass near half-court with 1.4 seconds left in the contest to secure the 44-42 victory.
Colton Clement nailed a three-pointer with 2.4 seconds to pull the 'Cats to within 43-42 of the Lake Country Conference foe Comets. Dickson connected on the second of two free throws after missing the first following a Madill foul with 1.4 seconds showing in regulation play. Madill trailed throughout most of the game. Madill went on a scoring run in the second half as they closed to within 33-30 after falling behind 33-22 in the third frame. The score stood 37-33 at the conclusion of the third stanza. 
Madill forward Robert Ortega netted a bucket to get the 'Cats to within 40-39 of the Comets at the 1:27 mark of the final quarter before Dickson immediately answered with a basket to push their lead up to 42-39.
Clement's three-point basket with 2:03 left in the game cut Dickson's edge to 40-37. 
Dickson held a 13-12 edge after the first quarter concluded. The 'Cats faced a 25-19 deficit at intermission.
Taber Bagley contributed his perimeter shooting to the effort with five points on the afternoon. Sophomore Raygan Dodd had six points. Ortega finished with six points, Corbin Larason chipped in three points and Keondre Morris added two points in the loss.
