'Cats Fall to 'Dogs Friday; Schulke Gains Queen's Crown, Weaver Named King in Homecoming Ceremony

The Madill basketball Wildcats hosted Sulphur tonight (Feb. 13) for homecoming. It was a tough night on the court as Madill lost 53-31 in the girls contest and 70-42 in the boys game. 
In the girls game, Sulphur edged ahead 11-7 by the end of the first quarter. They widened their advantage to 23-15 by intermission. The Lady Bulldogs held a 41-22 cushion by the end of the third quarter. 
Rylee Ruff's nine points paced the Lady 'Cats. Senior Mikah Hartsfield tossed in seven points. Junior guard Ali Selvy had six points on two, three-point baskets. Lesly Guerrero chipped in five points, Kaitlyn Jones had two points as did Kortlyn Yow.
Junior guard Taber Bagley led the way with his team-leading 14 points on the night for the 'Cats. However, Sulphur built a 22-13 edge by the end of the first frame. The lead was 36-19 for Bulldogs by halftime. Madill trailed 54-34 by the end of the third period Friday. 
Dylan Gilmore tossed in eight points. Corbin Larason had six points, Nick Nguyen chipped in five points, Keandre Morris accounted for four points, Edgar Padron had three points and senior Colton Clement had two points.
Elizabeth Schulke won the queen's crown during the ceremony and Spence Weaver was announced as the king.
