'Cats' Ground Game Bulldozes 'Dogs Friday at Agee Field

The Wildcats' ground game plowed ahead for 252 yards and three scores as Madill snapped a four-game losing streak with a 21-7 victory over Sulphur at Agee Field Friday. The win is the 'Cats' first in the district so far. Quarterback Colton Clement guided the offense while recording all three scores and 90 yards rushing on 27 totes. He completed five passes for 74 yards. Sophomore Corbin Larason emerged with his first start at tailback. He responded well by racking up 159 yards on 28 carries. Sulphur began the contest by forcing Madill to punt. The Bulldogs returned the punt 40 yards to the 'Cats' 21-yard line. 'Dogs' quarterback Ryan Rackley carried the ball all five plays of the opening drive. He punctuated the series with a two-yard plunge and Sulphur led 7-0 with 9:05 remaining in the first quarter. Madill revved its' offensive engine and tied the contest 7-7 as Clement scored from seven yards out with 4:28 to go in the opening frame. Clement added his second of three TDs with 41 second left in the first half on a 12-yard gallop. The junior's third came with 7:23 to go in the third quarter. Madill's defense kept the pressure on Sulphur in the second half. The Bulldogs concluded the game with only 126 yards of total offense. Sulphur only completed one pass for three yards and was twice intercepted. Joe Avery and Clement each had one for Madill. Conversely, the 'Cats had 74 yards through the air. Madill hosts Atoka Nov. 1 for senior night at Alumni Field before traveling to Pauls Valley for the regular season finale Nov. 8.
