'Cats Outlasted by Outlaws Thursday Night

Madill cut the Marlow lead to 28-21 with 33 seconds left in the first half when Colton Clement sailed in the end zone on a seven-yard run. However,  the Outlaws outscored the 'Cats 9-0 in the second half for a 37-21 win Thursday night. Marlow jumped ahead quickly in the contest as Braden O'Dell ran 55 yards for the opening score of the game with 9:50 to go in the opening frame. Madill answered as Sage Salyer came up with an Outlaw fumble at the 39-yard line. Then, Clement found Corbin Larason on a perfectly timed pass play and score from 39 yards away with 5:06 in the first period. Carlos Torres booted the extra point and the score was knotted, 7-7. Clement capped off a drive with a three-yard run with 2:08 left in the first. Clement intercepted a pass and returned it to set up the 'Cats with a first-and-goal situation. O'Dell tied the game, 14-14, on a one-yard run with 10:02 remaining in the second quarter. The Outlaws struck again on a 47-yard scoring pass from O'Dell to Logan Knox at the 6:54 mark of the second period. The Marlow club held a 21-14 edge. The Outlaws stretched the lead to 28-14 with 4:39 left before halftime on the strength of a 34-yard run by Colt Mitchell. That's when the 'Cats clawed back on a quick drive mixing in the pass to Taber Bagley and the ground combo of Larason, Clement and Micah Cooper. Clement's run chopped the Outlaws lead in half just before the first half horn. A 25-yard touchdown run by Outlaw tailback Wyatt Butner pushed Marlow's cushion to 35-21 with 47 ticks showing in the third quarter. Marlow's defense added a safety with 3:34 left in the contest. Anthony Charles dug out a fumble recovery for the 'Cats.  Senior Wildcats' cornerback Rio Zamora picked up a fumble that closed a Marlow drive in the second half. Madill comes home to Alumni Field for senior night Oct. 24 when Sulphur comes to town.
