The Madill boys basketball team closed within a bucket, 57-55, of the Dickson Comets with 1:48 left in Friday's contest on a Davius Sanders 'layup. However, the Comets outscored Madill 11-6 in that final stretch to log the 68-61 victory. Madill took the early 14-13 edge at the end of the first stanza on an Edgar Padron basket. The 'Cats trailed 32-25 at the half. Dickson held a 50-36 cushion by the close of the third. In the girls game, Rylee Ruff ' s three-point bucket pushed Madill into an 11-10 advantage by the end of the first frame. Nonetheless, the Lady Comets came away with an eventual 64-48 win. Madill trailed 29-20 by halftime. Dickson owned the 49-31 lead at the conclusion of the third. Madi Cook and Ali Selvy tied for basketball homecoming queen in the ceremony Friday.
