Dodd's Blast, Dash Aid Wildcats in Win Over Warriors Thursday Night; 'Cats Fall to Chargers in Nightcap

Raygan Dodd sprinted home from third base in the eighth inning Thursday (March 24) night as the Washington Warrior pitch careened off the dirt away from the catcher. When the dust settled, the junior had scored the winning run for the Wildcats' baseball team, 5-4, in walk-off fashion. 
Dodd connected with a double in the bottom of the eighth frame. He advanced to third. Riley McDaniel was the Wildcat standing in the batter's box when the pitch eluded the grasp of the Warriors' catcher
Dodd hammered his second homer this season for the now 6-3 'Cats in the sixth inning to tie the game, 4-4.
Trailing 3-1, the 'Cats bats came alive. Taber Bagley hit a pitch that found open space in right field between to Washington outfielders. He was pushed along to third on a single by Paxton Arterberry. Traven Bagley hit a grounder to the short stop that allowed his brother to score from third. Corbin Larason and Devon Chapa both added hits that brought two more runs in for the Wildcats. Washington took the 4-3 lead before Dodd added his homer.
Dodd started on the pitching mound against Washington and recorded 11 strikeouts in the contest. Chapa finished the game in relief.
However, in the second game at the Murray County Shootout tournament, Madill fell to Heritage Hall, 8-0. Madill plays the winner of the Tupelo-Wynnewood game later today.
