The Ardmoreite newspaper tabbed senior pitcher Gage Goff and junior infielder Samuel Bond as members of its Super Team for Baseball in 2013 today (June 9). Goff posted a 6-2 record on the mound in his senior campaign. The hurler with his 1.97 earned run average has already been named the co-defensive player of the year for the Lake Country Conference. He will be at Rose State College next season on a baseball scholarship. Bond led the Wildcats with 10 home runs this season. The junior played as an infielder. He has played third base, short stop and pitcher during this year for Madill coach Randy Rushing. Bond was also named to the LCC team in 2013 while posting a .333 batting average at the plate. Seniors Hunter Chapa, Shadow Marris and Ivan Flores made the first team. Seniors Paten Bond, Ke'ven Davis, and Jonathan Sutherland were honorable mention with junior Joe Avery. Chapa, another LCC team selection, has signed to play baseball on a scholarship at Southwestern Christian University in Bethany. "They are all deserving of this honor," Madill coach Randy Rushing said on Sunday afternoon about the selections. He also said he is excited that Goff and Chapa will get to play at the next level. Goff The Madill baseball club posted a 19-10 overall record in 2013. They won the district playoff series over Lone Grove in a two-game sweep before bowing out in the regional tournament at Blanchard to the host Lions and Newcastle. Rushing said he was pleased with the team's performance in 2013 and that the team has a good nucleus of younger players to build around next season. Bond |
