Madill senior Cheyanne Himelright raced into home from third with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday evening as the Lady Wildcats' softball team won 13-12 over Kingston. Designated player Madi Cook stood in the batter's box and watched the pitch bounce by the catcher. Himelright alertly took advantage of the scoring opportunity with two outs in the frame. Madill built an 11-7 edge before Kingston fought back to a 12-11 lead. Madill pitcher Ali Selvy took a line drive hit in the leg, but remained in the contest to get the victory from the circle. Madill plays Dickson Sept. 3 following the Labor Day break from school on Monday. |
