Johnson Taking Golf Cleats to State Tournament After Qualifying Monday Through Poteau Regional

Madill golfer Clete Johnson carded a 167 with rounds of 82 and 85 to claim a spot in the state tournament through the Poteau regional on Monday. Easton Goodwin just missed qualifying for the state tourney with a 168. Freshman Hayden Holder finished with a 173 and Austin Sandefur completed the day with a 175.
According to Coach Aaron George, the team missed qualifying as a squad by a mere eight strokes.
"They all played well," George said.
The Class 4A boys state golf tournament is May 12-13.
