Today (Jan. 15) marks Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday. King was a champion of civil rights for all citizens. King implemented a non-violent approach to social changes in the United States. He is probably most noted for his I have a dream... speech he delivered in Washington on Aug. 28 of 1963.
"Dr. King is truly one of the greatest men in the history of our country," Madill dean of students and head football coach Milton Cooper said. "I think only he could have done the things that he did. I think he was appointed just for that task. He did it with honor."
Madill Schools will dismiss classes Monday (Jan. 18) in observance of the national holiday.
