Lady 'Cats Claw Way to Win in Classic Friday; Wildcats Suffer Setback to Bearcats

Madill's Lady Wildcats bounced back from a loss on Thursday to notch the first win on the young basketball season Friday afternoon in the Madill Winter Classic. It was a 54-41 win over Pilot Point. However, Madill's boys did not fare as well in a 50-40 loss to Pilot Point Friday night.
The Lady 'Cats raced out to a 17-9 advantage by the end of the first quarter. And built a 33-23 lead on the strength of a 16-point second frame. Madill's defense limited the Lady Bearcats to two points in the third quarter. The Lady Wildcats closed the game with 15 points in the fourth stanza. Senior Mikah Hartsfield paced the Lady 'Cats with 20 points. Rylee Ruff added 12 points. Senior Elizabeth Schulke had 11 points. Kaitlyn Jones had five points. Ali Selvy and Macayla Moore had three points.
Pilot Point held a slim 19-16 edge at halftime of the boys contest. Madill took a 28-27 lead with 1:45 to go in the third quarter when Colton Clement hit a three-pointer. They closed the quarter with a 30-29 edge. However, the Wildcats saw the Bearcats outscore them in the final frame. Clement finished with 14 points. Robert Ortega had 10 points. Taber Bagley added six points. Corbin Larason added five points. Spence Weaver had two points.
