Lady 'Cats Fall to Atoka in Calera Tourney Thursday; Play in Consolation Bracket Friday

Madill battled with Atoka this evening on the softball diamond in the Calera tournament. The Lady 'Cats fell 6-3 despite holding a lead through the middle innings. A three-run fourth inning forged a 5-3 advantage for the Lady Wampuscats after Madill's Jaycee Wallace, Madison Jowers and Tori Crook scored in the bottom of the opening frame to stake Madill to the early 3-1 cushion.Lady 'Cats' Callie Gray and Cayanne Melton combined for an out at the plate in the top of the second to secure the 3-2 edge for Madill. Madi Cook and Gray both singled in the second inning, but were left stranded.Lady Wildcats' pitcher Ali Selvy singled in the third inning, but did not score.
The loss forces Madill into the consolation bracket at 5:30 p.m. on Friday (Aug. 14).
