The Lady Wildcats made an attempt at a comeback after being down by double digits to Lone Grove Friday night. However, the 'Horns withstood the final four-minute flurry of points Madill put together to halt the Lady 'Cats' five-game winning streak. Madill fell 59-51 despite the last rally. The blemish is the first in 2014 for the Madill girls. They saw a 14-10 deficit by the end of the first quarter. It remained a four-point margin, 24-20, at intermission. Lone Grove stretched its advantage to 41-28 by the end of the third quarter. Madill got on a roll with four minutes left in the contest. But it was not to be on this night for the Madill girls. Kaylen Sweat netted a team-high 23 points. Haley Furr added 14.
The Wildcats had a similar outing. They trailed the Longhorns by double digits early and then made a late run in the second half only to be halted 67-61 by the 'Horns. Colton Clement canned a club-leading 24 points. Samuel Bond tossed in 18 points and Joe Avery added 12 in the loss. Madill hosts Tishomingo Jan. 21 at the Wildcat Fieldhouse.
