Lady Wildcats Win Friday, Stay in Ada Regional on Saturday; Pirates End 'Cats' Basketball Season

For the second time in as many days, the Lady Wildcats clawed back from a double-digit deficit to remain in contention via the consolation bracket at the regional basketball tournament  in Ada Friday afternoon. Kaitlyn Jones,  Rylee Ruff and Madison Jowers all scored in double figures as Madill eliminated Tecumseh with a 59-54 triumph.  The victory pushes the Lady Wildcats ahead to play at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday for a chance to advance to the area tournament in Wilburton March 3. The Madill girls trailed for much of the second and third stanzas.  The full court press produced offensive opportunities that the Lady 'Cats utilized to take the lead in the fourth frame. Free throws down the last stretch proved vital in the victory.  Madill had an 11-8 edge after the first frame. The Lady Savages went ahead,  20-18, by the close of the opening half.  The 41-37 lead by Tecumseh at the third frame ' s conclusion was completely gone by the 2:52 mark of the final quarter.  
The boys faced an uphill battle all day against the Poteau Pirates which had dropped only four games all sesson. The Pirates built a 17-6 upper hand by the close of the first.  The cushion ballooned to 34-13 by half. Dylan Gilmore  and Raygan Dodd each had six points to pace the 'Cats.
