A seven-run first inning that included a three-run homer from the bat of Madill senior softball player Callie Gray was not enough to stop the Lady Comets' late inning surge in a 14-9 loss to Dickson Monday on the road. Kassy Kemp delivered a two-run double in the first inning. Macy Shirley and Jacy Wallace each added an RBI, as well. Those were preceded by Gray's HR that plated the first three runs in the contest. Madill had exploded for seven runs to begin the game. Dickson got four of those runs back in the bottom of the first frame to only trail Madill, 7-4. Kortlyn Yow added an RBI for the Lady 'Cats in the top of the second stanza. Dickson responded with a run to make it an 8-5 game before Lady Wildcats' short stop Rylee Ruff made a diving catch for an out to end the inning and maintain the three-run margin for Madill. Bailey Gammil connected on her third HR of the year to give the Lady 'Cats a 9-5 advantage in the fourth. Dickson revved the bats and rallied for five runs in the bottom of the fifth frame to take a 10-9 lead. Shelby Alexander and Gammil singled in the top of the sixth, but no runs scored for Madill. The Lady Comets plated an additional four runs in the bottom of the sixth and subsequently held Madill scoreless in the top of the seventh to claim the victory. In the first contest of the afternoon against Turner, Madill suffered a 9-1 loss to the Lady Falcons. Hits came from Wallace, Gammil, Ruff and Yow in the contest for Madill.
