The Marshall County Junior Livestock Show continues through Saturday in Madill's William Ray Memorial Park. The swine were the first to take the show ring on Friday. Beef animals will be judged in the ring later on Friday.
Livestock shows aren't just a way to get out of school. It teaches life lessons.
"It really teaches you a lot of responsibility," Madill High School student Ladd Landgraf said of showing animals.
"I think that one of the great aspects of showing animals is like the friendships that you make," MHS student Luke Chapman said.
The show wraps Saturday night with the premium sale. The premium sale allows for a certain percentage of the total amount of exhibitors to regain some of the funds they spent for preparing and showing the animals. Premium buyers are commonly local businesses and community members.
